About Us
Headteacher's Welcome
`Love eachother as I have loved you.`
John 15:12
Hello and welcome to Bickerstaffe C.E School. My name is Kirstin Carlin and it is my privilege to welcome you to our school which has been an integral part of the local community since 1844.
Our School`s Vision is taken from the bible story `The Vine and The Branches.` Using this story, with the help of the Holy Trinity, we aim to encourage children to learn to live life in all its fullness.
We are deeply proud to be a church school and enjoy an extremely close relationship with our local church, Holy Trinity, and Reverend Andrew, who is a regular visitor to our school. He delivers a weekly collective worship to the children in an interactive and fun way which the children look forward to.
At present we have 100 children in our school family, we have 4 classes, Reception, Yr 1 & 2, Yr 3 & 4 and Yr 5 & 6. Our children are what makes our school special. They are unique, creative and engaging and inspire staff daily. Due to our small class sizes staff know each individual child and strive each day to make learning fun and exciting.
Our staff and Governors are a blessing and work tirelessly to make our school a wonderful learning environment for our children. We all work hard to promote `Team Bickerstaffe` and this hard work was recognised in our Ofsted Inspection in 2018 and our SIAMs Inspection in 2019.
We offer a wide range of lunch time and after school clubs, allowing the children to develop their interests and talents while also having fun! These include singing, craft, reading and music. We are also extremely proud of our weekly Running Club which is further enhanced by our purpose built running track.
Staff and children`s Mental Health & Wellbeing is an area we are passionate about. Some of our children start each day with daily meditation, we also have a dedicated sensory room and access to a weekly school counsellor. We were proud and delighted to be recognised for our hardwork in this area at the Educate Awards in 2019 where we were announced as winners of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Award.
Our scenic location further boosts our uniqueness and the children spend as much time as possible outdoors in our Forest School, Peace Garden or outdoor classroom.
Bickerstaffe C.E School is everything a primary school should be, welcoming, fun, safe and inspiring. However it is also so much more. We are a family who embrace challenges together, undertake adventures and excel knowing we are supported and able to love life, love learning and love eachother. But don`t just believe me! We would love to welcome you to our school for a visit, our Head Boy and Head Girl would love to give you a guided tour! We look forward to meeting you soon!
